The BS-1M does not work with the Boss RC-5, despite the website saying so, the cable covers the input jacks, making the pedal unable to be used. Reached out to the maker through their website and they have been unresponsive.
Thank you for informing us about this! The RC-5 puts its remote jack at the top rather than the bottom, so we've made a dedicated switch for it: the BS-2M, the same momentary switch with a longer cable. You can now rotate the plug away, clearing access for the jacks below. We have sent you a new one too. On a personal note I apologize for missing your email — I try my best to clear them daily but alas your email slipped out. Sorry, I hope we can make this right for you!
